Dropping In On The Hotel Director

We met Robert Taggart, currently the Jewel's Hotel Director, shortly after we boarded. Brian said hello and mentioned reading that he was from Vancouver. It turns out he lived at one point Harrison Hot Springs, BC, as did we, and his mother lives in Chilliwack, as do a couple of our grandkids and their parents.

Robert was born and raised in Vancouver and now spends part of his time in Florida. His work experience goes all the way back to the Princess Patricia, one of the old Canadian Pacific ships that sailed the Inside Passage. He must have been a wee lad at the time, even though it was undoubtedly the Princess Patricia II.

Robert's been working on RCCL ships since 1988 and served as a Hotel Director on a number of their ships from 1993 onward.

We ran into Robert repeatedly and he always found time to stop and chat with us, as if there weren't 1998 other passengers aboard. He kindly invited us to drop by his quarters on the final night of the cruise along with other passengers he'd invited. It turns out his lodgings are forward of ours on the bow of Deck 9. We were happy to drop by for a few minutes after one final dinner at Chops. We appreciated Robert's hospitality, and of course enjoyed the chance to check out his living quarters - not too shabby...
