Cruising Bangkok's Klongs

As we described here, one of our first activities after arriving in Bangkok was an extensive tour of some of its major klongs.

The water is high, to say the least in this year of Thailand's disastrous
flooding, and we enter and exit these canals through locks on the Chao Phraya River.

Tom and Ellyn are ready for their long-tail boat cruise with us.

The dwellings range from shacks that appear in imminent danger of collapsing to near-mansions, and of course there are many temples along the way as well.

People-watching here is fascinating as we almost literally ride through the residents' front yards.
