A Snowy April In Donner Pass

It was rainy and chilly during our four-hour layover in Sacramento. As we climb out of there on our way up toward Donner Summit and Reno on the other side, the rain turns to fresh snow and we sit for four hours as a work-train with a plow clears the track. Great scenery but four hours is a long enough time to wait. Last year, there was a 24-hour delay and there's a long history of challenges and problems for rail and other travelers in this area.

Finally we're moving again.
