Transatlantic Cruise Memories: Cadiz Spain

We found out only later why a crowd was waiting outside the barricades here, overseen by uniformed police and guys with earpieces in their ears. The King and Queen of Spain were in town.

Not meaning to be disrespectful, but even if we'd known we'd still prefer to spend out time wandering through a market such as this one...

Merluza / Hake... Oh, and the ugly one with his mouth open in the foreground is Monkfish or, in Spanish, El Rape...

Marrazo / shark...

Gallos / John Dory...

Pulpos / octopus...

The Monument to the 1812 constitution was impressive, although we don't know how useful the document actually was to Spanish citizens.

We spied some strangely interesting trees in the same area.

We'd never known that the famous Spanish composer, Manuel de Falla, who lived and died in exile in Argentina following Francisco Franco's victory in the Spanish Civil War, was born here and is buried in the cathedral here.

The things you can learn sometimes just by wandering...
