Coriander Kitchen at the Conrad Pune: Breakfast Delight

At our next-to-last breakfast at the Coriander Kitchen's fabulous buffet, it seemed timely to stop eating for a moment and to snap a few photos. What a place...

There are so many cooking stations - eggs, soup, Indian cuisine - that it's hard to cover it all. We've been starting the morning with their noodle soup, and it's delicious.

That alone makes a great breakfast but, like Oscar Wilde, we can resist everything except temptation, at least when it comes to food.

So many choices...

So many nooks and crannies with so many temptations...

Brian went the pedestrian route and asked the friendly young chef (and every employee here and throughout the Conrad is exceedingly friendly and helpful) to make a "chef's special." Look at the result.

Tasty it was!

Kathy opted for Indian dishes, and we felt honored when the Chef de Cuisine himself, Atash Pawar, came to our table to explain each dish.

Before leaving, we thanked Chef Pawar and also the young omelet chef, and managed a better photo.

Incidentally, Atish appears from LinkedIn to be quite a rising star in India's culinary world since graduating from Mumbai University with a BSc in hotel management in 2006.

In the "small world" department, he worked in Aspen, Colorado at the Little Nell Resort for two years, not all that far from Kathy's hometown of Durango. From there it was to the Mumbai JW Marriott as a sous chef for four years before attaining Chef de Cuisine at the Conrad earlier this year. A real talent and a very personable young man.

Sigh... one final breakfast tomorrow before starting that long trek home.
