Paris: Saturday at the Louvre

Our hotel is only a block or so from the Metro, and the Musée du Louvre is on our Line 7.

We were fortunate to have bought reserved entry tickets for this busy and rainy Saturday morning. The non-reserved lines were long.

Mona Lisa has been moved, and is now the first stop. We snaked our way through a switchback line (think Disneyland) that actually left us fairly close to the painting, a selfie-taker’s paradise.

Employees politely rush people along after a minute or  so.

From there it was Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of  Samothrace, and too many other paintings and sculptures to count.

We followed the Louvre with a damp stroll through the  Tuileries Garden and along the Seine to Pont Neuf, before retreating to the Metro and our hotel room, drying off with a game of Spades in the lobby, and a beer for the grandparents.

We’re dining at the Brewery Paname in awhile, just across the canal from our hotel.

An evening of cards and a brewery - dangerous grandparents!
