I-5 Exit 147 - Federal Way, Washington: Emerald II Thai Cuisine

This was worth a quick detour off I-5 at Exit 147 when driving home after a week of renovation work. After exiting you drive west along 272nd Street for about half a mile. You turn left (staying in the right lane) onto Pacific Highway and immediately turn right into the parking lot of the fairly crummy-looking strip mall on the corner. Even better, when leaving you can drive through the parking lot and exit on to 272nd to return to I-5.

The interior is neat - even pleasant - and the food hits the spot at reasonable prices. We enjoyed both the Basil Beef (above) and the Pad Kee Mao (below). We boxed about half of it and look forward to an enjoyable lunch as we relax chez nous.

This little joint gets good reviews on Yelp and Urban Spoon. We'll probably add a second good review to the lone entry on Trip Advisor, thanks to the very friendly owner who waited on us and the convenient location. It was less than five minutes between the I-5 ramp and the restaurant.

They even have their own website, but then just about everybody does these days, even including grandparents.
