Menton at Last

After a fine breakfast buffet in our hotel, we took the shuttle back to the airport with a friendly driver who thought Brian's command of French was better than the sad reality.

There we bought "aller et retour" bus tickets to Menton, boarding within 10 minutes and arriving well ahead of schedule on a nearly empty bus that skipped unnecessary stops.

We chose to walk to our apartment, no more than 20-25 minutes. It's cozy but nice. We shopped at the extremely busy supermarket two blocks away (markets are still closed Sunday in France as far as we know)and are stocked up for the weekend with eggs, milk, water, wine... All the essentials.

We enjoyed a great lunch at the nearby Da Mitchou on the beach. We napped after lunch and are now watching Sky News on the satellite TV and trying to hold off bedtime for awhile.

It's pleasing to be back in Menton.

Are you sure the drive thought that?!

After we'd uttered a few words, he spent the rest of the short drive telling us about the bird refuge in the Var River we'd crossed over, and the fact the hotel owner also owns a hotel near Vancouver. Don't ask us ANY more details about either topic.
