We took a taxi from the airport to the Amara Hotel and checked in. Our room is reasonable enough and includes a separate tub and shower, usually a good sign.
The buffet dinner was excellent and we'll head downstairs to breakfast in awhile before returning to the airport for a 9:40 a.m. flight on SQ 172, scheduled to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) at 10:55 a.m. local time (one hour behind Singapore).
We managed to make contact with the hotel, the visa service, and the car service in Ho Chi Minh City to inform them of our changed arrival time, so we've done what we can.
The delay didn't seriously inconvenience us - our first scheduled activity is a street food tour this evening and we probably had a better rest here than we might have arriving late at SGN.
We hear it's a rather chaotic place and we'll find out soon.
