Mainz, Germany: Am Holztor Restaurant

After a few hours of sleep at an Amsterdam airport hotel provided by KLM, an unpleasantly thorough security check at AMS, and a short flight on a Cityhopper Fokker, we landed at FRA.

We rode the train on the 20-minute trip to Mainz, and took a taxi to check in at the Mainz Hilton on the Rhine River. We were happy to get a river-view room up on the sixth floor.

We ate an early dinner at Trip Advisor's fifth most popular restaurant, Am Holztor ( http://www.amholztor.de/ ), chatting about air travel bargains with the friendly and travel-savvy owner who is on his way to Shanghai in February.

We were asleep before 8:00 p.m. and didn't wake up for good before 5:30 a.m. or so, a much needed rest.

Goose leg for Kethy and Schweine Schnitzel for Brian at An Holztor...

It looks like a beautiful Saturday morning after a good night's sleep.
