Nothing Against Belfast

No, nothing against Belfast, but we docked there on a rainy Sunday so didn't see it at its best. We took a free shuttle bus into the city center, viewed the closed shops, wandered around outside the city hall for a few minutes, and promptly hopped back on and returned to the ship. As we sailed away, maybe we caught a glimpse of the actual shipyard where the Titanic was built, something to contemplate as we sailed toward Iceland.

The "unsinkable" Titanic, the end of the Ewardian Age, the metaphor for the limitations of technology, and of course the tragic loss of so many lives - imagine the optimism as this magnificent liner was built right here, only to be replaced by despair as word of its sinking reached Belfast.

It was impossible to miss Samson and Goliath, the gigantic twin shipbuilding gantry cranes situated at Queen's Island.
