Asia Upcoming: Packing for Warm Weather

We fly out of Vancouver tomorrow morning for a couple of weeks in Asia. Our itinerary includes our first visit to Sri Lanka, our first visit to the cities of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Colombo, Sri Lanka, return visits to a couple of favorite locales, and our first flights ever on Cathay Pacific Airlines.

We're flying as far as Kuala Lumpur on points, which explains the routing. Our return flights on Cathay Pacific are in paid Business Class, a bargain fare we scooped up after seeing it touted on a travel blog - the catch was that the flight had to originate in Male. We couldn't resist.

Oct 9-10 Vancouver to Shanghai on Air Canada,12-hour flight, 3-hour layover
Oct 10     Shanghai to Bangkok on Thai Airways, 4-hour flight,12-hour layover
                Overnight in BKK airport-area hotel
Oct 11     Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on Thai Airways, 2-hour flight
Oct 14     Kuala Lumpur to Colombo on Air AsiaX, 3-hour flight
Oct 17     Colombo to Male (Maldives) on SriLankan Airlines, 90-minute flight
Oct 17     Sea Plane to Veligandu Island Resort, 20-minute flight
Oct 23     Sea Plane to Male
Male to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific Airlines
Oct 27     Hong Kong to Vancouver on Cathay Pacific Airlines, 11-hour, 20 minute flight
Put more simply...
Oct 9-11 YVR-PVG(AC)-BKK-KUL (TG)
Oct 14     KUL-CMB (D7)
Oct 17     CMB-MLE (UL)
Oct 13     MLE-HKG (CX)
Oct 27     HKG-YVR (CX)
One more example of how tidy airport and airline codes can be.
