Mainz Saturday Market

The Christmas Market is officially opening the day we leave, and the lights and decorations are going up.

The rain held off to a few drops (it's starting seriously later this afternoon) and we enjoyed wandering around. It covers a fair area in the Old Town.

Too bad you'll miss the Christmas market. I really like the one in Mainz -- great setting, excellent sausages, nice variety of goods on offer, and not so crowded that you feel like you're being propelled by the crowd. Enjoy the rest of your time in Germany.

We also missed the Gutenberg Museum, as it didn't dawn on us until today that it's closed Monday - all the more reason to return!
