I like that hotel (if I remember correctly, the Executive Lounge is quite capacious), though wish it was a bit closer to the Bund and the city center. One thing I remember is looking out the window from my room at any hour and seeing traffic everywhere far below. I had the same experience as you finding the place -- you emerge from the subway, walk in the direction you think you should, begin to feel you've taken a wrong turn, then look up and see the hotel just a short distance away.

A rainy evening didn't help either. Now that we know the way, it's a pleasant enough walk.
