An enjoyable ride on the Coast Cascades, despite one annoying incident in the dining car when employees argued whether they could serve us our own wine that one had earlier said we could.
Several of us enjoyed our dinner and some of the Oregon scenery was spectacular, with fresh snow on the trees and beautiful rivers and mountains in view.
It was a short night's sleep, especially since we had to get off the train at Sacramento by 6:30 a.m. It was pouring rain here, but it's now let up, we were able to check our bags temporarily, and we found a cute little fast-food Italian place just around the corner, Strings Italian Express, where we chose a variety of menu items, from breakfast wraps to Paninis to Pepperoni Pizza, and we're enjoying free Internet as well.
We're scheduled to leave on the Zephyr about 11:00 a.m. Fun trip so far!
