San Francisco Airport International Terminal: United Global First Lounge

These will soon be historic photos as this old United First Class Lounge is replaced by a Polaris Lounge, United's new premium branding.

In fact, rumor has it that this location may be the new site of a United Club, while the United Club near the security entrance (and walkway from the other terminals) may be converted to a Polaris Lounge. We'll just have to wait and see.

Unlike most lounges, you enter on the main level and descend by elevator to the lounge. Of course, you descend by escalator to reach all of the boarding gates in this terminal

The open entry is artfully concealed behind a screen.

This is our second time here within a few weeks. The employees are pleasant, and the food and beverage selection is decent, if not outstanding.

Still, it's not a bad place to spend a couple of hours before boarding our flight to London.

We'll be boarding a soon-to-be-retired 747 in an hour or so for our 10-hour flight to LHR. Can't wait!

Ultimately, United Global First Lounges offer an atmosphere of casual comfort and elegance, as this nearby patron would attest.
