A Day in Berlin

It wasn’t raining today. Hurray!

We bought a day pass for transit and just wandered.

We started with the Brandenburg Gate. The last time we visited Berlin, in 2002, it was covered up and in the process of being renovated.

It’s back...

We also caught a peek of the Reichstag.

We visited the Wall Memorial. We’ll never forget visiting in the summer of 1990 (the Wall had opened in November 1989) and watching son David rent a hammer at Checkpoint Charlie to chip off his own pieces of The Wall. He was one of the Mauerspechte, or Wall Woodpeckers.

A memorial to escapees killed...

Later we walked through the Tiergarten and watched boats traverse the locks.

A great day in Berlin.
