Charleston Is Tourist Friendly

Especially in January, where you can pick up a $25 pass to visit a whole bunch of museums and period mansions in this old (by North American standards) city.

Combine that with free buses in the city core to most of these landmarks, and you have a pleasant and reasonably priced destination.

We started in the Charleston Museum, just across from the Visitor Center and the first museum in America, founded in 1773 and opened to the public in 1824.

We could have spent the whole day there but tore ourselves away to lunch at a tasty barbecue joint.

Priorities...
