Blane in Europe: The Roman Forum

The Forum is adjacent to the Colosseum, and we arrived in time to view the highlights before it got really hot (it was already well into the 80s).

As we started down the Via Sacra, we used a Rick Steves audio guide to learn about the highlights, starting with the Arch of Titus.

A lot to see…

Caesar was actually assassinated across town, but it was allegedly here that the soothsayer warded him to “Beware the Ides of March,” where his body was cremated, and where Marc Antony requested friends, Romans, countrymen to “lend me your ears.”

History? Oh yes.

Back at the hotel for a rest by noon or thereabouts.
