This morning, on our way out of the hotel, we saw a sign on the counter announcing a taxi strike today and tomorrow. We’d fortunately allowed some extra time for the trip and made it via the Metro, transferring at Termini to the blue line and disembarking at the Colosseo stop. In fact, we were early for our scheduled entrance, no thanks to the taxi drivers of Rome..
When in Rome for a day off a HAL Cruise with members of Kathy’s family in October 2001, we experienced a public transit strike and faced challenges. Some things apparently never change, certainly not the militancy of Italian workers.
