Why Fly from Venice? Our Quest Continues

Our quest for cheap long haul business class fares, that is, led us to reposition to Venice after our transatlantic cruise docked in Barcelona.

Over the next 24 hours or so we're flying British Airways from Venice (VCE) to London (LHR) to Hong Kong (HKG), the latter being about a 12-hour flight.

From HKG we fly onward on Cathay Dragon, formerly Dragonair, to Chengdu, China (CTU), arriving around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, local time.

When Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks, he replied "That's where the money is."

Asking us the "why" of trips like this will get you a similar answer...

Because that's where the bargains are.

We're also looking forward to a few days in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan and the home of the famous panda reserve.

Arrivederci, Venezia...
