Westin YVR Canada Day Upgrade

Whether you call it Canada Day, Dominion Day, or some other term of your own choosing, July 1 appears to be a good day to score an upgrade at Canadian hotels outlying the places where the action is.

Tonight, for example, after an overnight and lots of fun with Riley and Blane, two of our seven favorite grandchildren, we drove up to YVR, parked our car at the nearby lot, and grabbed a shuttle to the Westin Wall Centre YVR, where a brilliant upgrade awaited us to Corner Suite #1401, what we gather is the second-best suite on the property, after the Presidential Suite (and who wants to stay in one of those after a president has vacated).

We even have a front-row seat for the opening of the famous (and annoying) Moray Swing Bridge.

We enjoyed a quite decent dinner in the Westin's restaurant (there's nothing exciting nearby), and the evening is a good omen for our trip.
