Morning In Johannesburg

We slept in fits and starts last night. Maybe that two-hour afternoon nap wasn't such a good idea after all. Brian finally fell into his longest uninterrupted snooze since awakening at midnight and slept through until 9:00 a.m.

Our room rate includes the restaurant breakfast buffet and we headed there around 9:30 a.m., the same beautifully decorated Tradewinds where we enjoyed a large portion of "rump steak" last night for dinner. It's a winner. Trying to watch our caloric intake we bravely resisted some tempting breads and muffins and restricted ourselves to fried eggs, rump steak and onions, accompanied by some deliciously spicy chicken curry. Some sacrifice, right?

We again gave thanks for the genius who first experimented with grinding those strange little beans and brewing them into a beverage.

We may stroll around the immediate neighborhood of the Hilton Sandton for a little while before going on our city tour this afternoon.

We didn't see much at all of Joburg on our first trip here, and are looking forward to seeing some of the city.
