Cape Town At Our Feet

Yes, we're skipping ahead to the happy ending of our two-week coach tour. We arrived in Cape Town safe and sound late this afternoon (although Kathy is coughing the same cough that half the bus has been coughing over most of the trip) and our terrific driver Oupa snaked us smoothly up to the top of Signal Hill.

The Table Mountain cable car is still out of service for repairs but we enjoyed a 360-degree view of the city on a glorious Friday afternoon. Just for proof, here we are spoiling the view of Table Mountain from Signal Hill.

The structure shaped something like a large (fill in your own description) is the new soccer stadium...

It was bittersweet to say our goodbyes to our guide Craig Oliver and our driver Oupa. We can't speak highly enough of them. Craig flies home and has five days off before heading out to guide another tour. Opa has to partner up with another driver and drive a bus back to Johannesburg starting tomorrow afternoon, and then start another tour Monday.

Along with envelopes for Craig and Oupa, we gave Oupa one of the soccer balls we brought to South Africa, and we hope has a little time to kick it around with his 12-year-old son.

While we're relaxing in the Protea Hotel President, they're already off making preparations for their next assignment.

Thanks for a great trip, Craig and Oupa!
